Wawa Welcome America! is the nation’s premier festival celebrating the Fourth of July, in the city where it all began! Free, family-friendly entertainment takes place throughout the city over 10 fun-filled days from June 25-July 4. With two fireworks shows, the Taste of Philadelphia weekend of food and music at Penn’s Landing, and a jam-packed all-day celebration on the 4th, culminating with “The Largest Free Concert in America” on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway — Philadelphia has it all, and more! Road Closures
The following streets will be closed for the Old City Events surrounding the 4th of July celebrations:
– 2nd Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 3rd Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 4th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 5th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 6th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 7th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 8th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– 9th Street will be closed from Walnut to Arch
– Chestnut will be closed from Front to 10th
– Market will be closed from Front to 10th

The following streets will be closed surrounding the events around Benjamin Franklin Parkway:
6:00 AM
– Westbound traffic on the B.F. Parkway will be detoured north on 18th Street. Westbound traffic on Vine Street (Surface Vine Street) will be detoured at 17th Street.
– Northbound traffic on 20th and 22nd Street will be detoured at Arch Street.
– Southbound traffic on 21st Street will be detoured at Hamilton Street.
– Southbound traffic on 19th Street will be detoured at Callowhill Street.
– Inbound Kelly Drive traffic will be detoured at Fairmount Avenue.
– 25th Street will be closed at Kelly Drive. No access to the Art Museum Garage due to the fireworks set-up. No access to Waterworks Drive, from Kelly drive, due to the fireworks set-up.
– Westbound Spring Garden Street will be detoured at Pennsylvania Avenue.
– I-676 Off-Ramps to 22nd and 23rd Streets will be closed.

4:00 PM
– Westbound traffic on Fairmount Avenue will be detoured at Corinthian Street. Southbound cross streets west of Corinthian will be detoured east on Fairmount Avenue.
– Westbound traffic on Spring Garden Street will be detoured at Broad Street. All southbound cross streets west of 18th Street will be detoured east on Spring Garden Street.
– Southbound traffic along Poplar Street (30th, 29th, 28th & 26th Streets) will be detoured east on Poplar Street.
– Westbound traffic on the B.F. Parkway will be detoured north on 18th Street. Westbound traffic on Vine Street (Surface Vine Street) will be detoured at 17th Street.
– Northbound traffic on 20th and 22nd Street will be detoured at Arch Street.

10:45 PM
– At approximately 10:45 PM, I-676 Off-Ramps at 15th Street will be closed as necessary for public safety.
The following street closures will occur within the 16th Police District surrounding the July 4th events:

8:00 AM
– The 3200 block of Spring Garden will be closed from 8am to 12am to accommodate Special Events permits. The Mantua Community Improvement Committee has a day-long event planned for this location.

4:00 PM
– The entire length of the Spring Garden Street Bridge will be closed.
– I 76 on and off ramps at Spring Garden Street will be closed (off ramp to be closed by the Penna State Police).
– Spring Garden Street from 31st to 34th will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
– Eastbound Spring Garden Street Traffic will be stopped at 34th Street and detoured south on 34th Street.
– Eastbound Powelton Avenue vehicular traffic will be stopped at 33rd Street.
– Northbound 33rd Street vehicular traffic will be stopped at Powelton Avenue and detoured west onto Powelton Avenue.
– Northbound 32nd Street vehicular traffic will be stopped at Powelton Avenue and will be detoured west onto Powelton Avenue.
– Southbound 32nd Street vehicular traffic will be stopped at Haverford Avenue. All traffic will be detoured westbound on Haverford Avenue.
– Northbound 31st Street vehicular traffic will be stopped at Powelton Avenue

Public Safety Beacons:
There are public safety beacons (see picture) that will have police officers positioned at them. Go there if you need assistance.
Beacon Tower #1: Logan Circle (west side, just east of 20th Street)
Beacon Tower #2: 20th & Parkway (north side)
Beacon Tower #3: 2000 block of the Parkway (south side)
Beacon Tower #4: 21st & Parkway (north side)
Beacon Tower #5: 21st & Parkway (south side)
Beacon Tower #6: 22nd & Parkway (south side)
Beacon Tower #7: 22nd & Parkway (north side)
Beacon Tower #8: 2200 block of the Parkway (south side)
Beacon Tower #9: Eakins Oval (southeast corner)
Beacon Tower #10: Eakins Oval (northeast corner)
Beacon Tower #11: MLK Drive & Spring Garden Street Ramp
Beacon Tower #12: 25th & Kelly Drive

Lost Children Tents:
– South side of Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 22nd and 23rd Streets
– Logan Circle (west side, just east of 20th Street)
– Eakins Oval (northeast corner)

First Aid/Medical Services:
– First Aid Station 1: North side of Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 23rd Street
– First Aid Station 2: South side of Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 22nd and 23rd Streets

Public Transportation:
Subway
Market Frankford Line and Broad Street Line will be running on a holiday schedule on July 4th. Service will run all day until 12:30AM.

Regional Rail
A regional rail train is scheduled to go to all 12 destinations at the break of fireworks. Departure time from Suburban Station will be between 11:45PM and 12:00AM.

Trolley
Ten trolleys (two for each route: 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36) are planned for the break of the fireworks.
Bus

Bus service to the following routes will be supplemented by buses staged at 20th Street between Race and Winter:
• Route 42
• Route 17
• Route 4

Bus service to the following routes will be supplemented by busses staged on 21st Street between Race and Winter:
• Route 21
• Route 42
• Route 4

Bus service to the following routes will be supplemented by busses staged on 22nd Street between Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue:
• Route 33
• Route 48
• Route 32
