Route 47 Service Enhancement Program

The value of public transit is ease and convenience, which is why more than 23,000 riders use Route 47 every weekday to travel from South Philadelphia and Center City to destinations across the City. With such a popular route, riders often find overcrowded buses, delays, and street congestion, especially during peak hours. The City and SEPTA surveyed customers to ask about the issues that created the greatest travel inconveniences. Based on your responses, SEPTA and the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities have been working together to identify low cost ways to speed travel and improve service reliability on Route 47.
