MAYOR NUTTER WISHES LA SALLE UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL TEAM GOOD LUCK

Philadelphia, March 27, 2013 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter released the following statement on La Salle University’s upcoming game against Wichita State in the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament:

“Tomorrow Philly’s own La Salle University Explorers will take on the Wichita State Shockers in the Sweet Sixteen, and I know this city is eager to see Tyrone Garland, Ramon Galloway, Tyreek Duren and the rest of the Explorers win. La Salle’s team brings excitement and passion to the floor, whether it’s spotting up for a three pointer or scoring off the Southwest Philly Floater.

“On behalf of the City of Philadelphia, I wish Coach John Giannini and the team good luck in their game. I know that the Explorers will continue to show America what Philadelphia’s storied basketball tradition is all about—from watching 76ers legends like Wilt Chamberlain and Dr. J to attending Big 5 basketball nights at the Palestra or cheering on old high school rivalries.

“I encourage all Philadelphians to wear blue and gold tomorrow in support of La Salle’s efforts. I also want to congratulate the Temple University men’s basketball team, the Villanova University men’s and women’s basketball teams and the St. Joseph’s University women’s basketball team on their great seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances.”
