Philadelphia, May 1, 2014 – Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) yesterday held its Official Brand Launch Announcement in the Mayor’s Reception Room at City Hall, showcasing its new theme, “Find Your Path”, which encapsulates the department’s mission of helping all Philadelphians grow through recreation and protecting the city’s natural and manmade assets.
“Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is a tremendous asset of our city, and the ‘Find Your Path’ brand represents the many opportunities and connections offered by the department,” said Mayor Nutter. “Since the official merger of Fairmount Park and the Department of Recreation in 2010, PPR has leveraged its resources to help Philadelphians grow through high quality recreation centers and athletic programs, maintenance of important historic and natural resources and enriching cultural and environmental programs. I am proud to kick-off this next phase of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s development.”
The Announcement event included a debut screening of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s “Find Your Path” brand anthem video as well as hands-on activities led by the Visual Arts and Urban Agriculture work units, both examples of the variety of programs and opportunities the department makes available to citizens. In addition, Mama’s Meatballs and Sweetbox Cupcakes food trucks catered the event and the Philadelphia Mummers gave a kick off performance, preceding the brand unveiling and announcement.
“Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is excited by the opportunities ‘Find Your Path’ presents to communicate the broad range of what we do in a unified voice,” said Deputy Mayor of Environmental and Community Resources and Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Michael DiBerardinis. “From the everyday programming that helps children succeed, to the services that care for our natural and manmade assets, to the relationships we build with neighbors, volunteers and partners each day, ‘Find Your Path’ demonstrates how we bring life to our parks and recreation centers and connect citizens to the natural world, to each other, and to fun, physical and social activities.”
