Philadelphia, January 9, 2015 – The City of Philadelphia was named the No. 3 ‘place to go’ on the “52 Places to go in 2015” list by the New York Times. In its description of the city, the Times noted that one reason to visit Philadelphia is the city’s utilization of urban outdoor spaces through mini-parks and pop-up gardens. The paper highlighted new attractions like Dilworth Park, Spruce Street Harbor Park and the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk.
“Philadelphians know that they live in a great city. Philadelphia is a walkable, bikable, family-friendly city with some of the best historical and cultural attractions in the country,” Mayor Michael A. Nutter said. “I hope that this recognition from the New York Times will encourage more visitors to come to Philadelphia and experience firsthand all that we have to offer. We Philadelphians are pleased that the New York Times has acknowledged that our city is a vibrant, growing, sustainable city with more and more must-see green amenities.”
