Mayor Michael A. Nutter issued the following statement on the occasion of Governor Tom Wolf’s inauguration in Harrisburg:

“I applaud Governor Tom Wolf’s pledge to rebuild the middle class in the Commonwealth and his focus on jobs that pay, schools that teach and government that works for all Pennsylvanians. We are, indeed, at a crossroads in the Keystone state, and Governor Wolf has signaled a willingness to work with everyone. The Governor said that ‘our schools must be our highest priority.’ I completely agree and look forward to working with him to develop a full and fair funding formula that will enable all Pennsylvania children to get the great education they will need in order to prepare for the good jobs that we all want for them.

“Like President Obama, who will deliver his State of the Union address tonight, Governor Wolf understands that as a state and nation, we must make strategic investments in education, health, transportation and other infrastructure as a means to encourage expanded private sector growth. And he has asked elected officials in both parties as well as citizens across the Commonwealth to offer their ideas and passion as they all begin the hard work of getting things done in Harrisburg.”
