MAYOR NUTTER ISSUES STATEMENT ON GOV. WOLF’S PROPOSED BUDGET

Mayor Michael A. Nutter issued the following statement on the proposed budget of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf:

“In his first budget, Gov. Wolf has proposed a fiscal plan that is both innovative and bold, addressing a number of structural problems that have held back the Commonwealth in recent years. For taxpayers in Philadelphia and across the state, the Governor has offered tax relief and reform that will strengthen our economy and our families. For the School District of Philadelphia and districts across the state, he calls for increased funding. In Philadelphia, the Governor’s budget would translate into about $540 million in new and existing tax relief, including significant reduction to the wage tax. It’s a budget that is good for school children, taxpayers and city government pensioners. I look forward to working with the members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the Governor to gain approval for this forward-thinking budget.”
