Philadelphia, October 6, 2015 – As a continuation of the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia and Comcast NBCUniversal will join Forbes to present Philly Impact Day, a day of service that will give an exclusive assembly of the nation’s most promising young entrepreneurs and influencers a chance to give back to local communities.
On Wednesday, October 7th, more than one hundred Under 30 Summit attendees, representing a wide range of industries, will visit local high schools, tech and social-entrepreneur ‘hot spots’ throughout the city to talk to young Philadelphians, lead mentoring sessions and share success stories.
“Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome the Forbes Under 30 Summit back to our great city,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. “We are particularly pleased to have the opportunity this year – in partnership with one of our city’s most committed corporate citizens, Comcast – to engage attendees in activities that will show them more of what Philadelphia has to offer, while also exposing our own students and entrepreneurs to these Under 30 stars.”
The City of Philadelphia through the Office of the Mayor is collaborating with Forbes and Comcast NBCUniversal to organize Philly Impact Day events, which range from dialogues about social and technology entrepreneurship, to mentoring sessions from Forbes Under 30 Summit attendees, to visits by attendees to 20 different Philadelphia schools.
“Fresh off the heels of a successful, historic visit by Pope Francis, I am excited to welcome Forbes 30 Under 30 back to our City. The Forbes Under 30 Summit, especially Philly Impact Day, will serve as a great starting point for what promises to be a busy fall for Philadelphia,” said City Representative Desiree Peterkin-Bell. “Philly Impact Day is Philadelphia’s chance to really show off our city to the Summit attendees, and we hope that what they experience will keep them coming back for other events that we have lined up this year, including the Philadelphia Collection, the GORE-TEX® Philadelphia Marathon and more. Once again, we are proving that Philadelphia does big events well.”
Randall Lane, Editor of Forbes Magazine said, “In bringing together almost 2,000 of the young entrepreneurs and game-changers who will run the world for the next 50 years, it’s our goal to leave Philadelphia in even better shape than we found it. Philadelphia is on the move, and we want to be a positive accelerant. That’s why we’re thrilled to be working with the City and with Comcast NBCUniversal on Philly Impact Day.”
