MAYOR NUTTER ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF CITY’S CHIEF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Philadelphia, December 30, 2015 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced the resignation of Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), Adel Ebeid.  Before joining the Nutter Administration in August 2011 as the first CIO for the City of Philadelphia, Mr. Ebeid served as CIO/CTO (Chief Technology Officer) for the State of New Jersey.  During his time with the City, Mr. Ebeid served as a lead negotiator on the Comcast Cable franchise agreement.

“Adel Ebeid has done a masterful job in helping move the City to the front lines of innovation,” said Mayor Nutter.  “He has provided vital leadership in building a strong technology organization, attracting top talent from the public, private and local tech communities, filling critical positons in OIT and modernizing the City’s technology infrastructure.”

Over the last four years, Mr. Ebeid was responsible for helping City government become more transparent, responsive and modern.  Under his leadership, the Office of Innovation and Technology (OIT) expanded the technology services provided to city agencies and citizens, embarked upon a city-wide technology modernization effort to secure and stabilize the City’s technology portfolio, and expanded on the success of Open Data and GIS initiatives.

“I feel extremely proud of what the team has been able to accomplish over the last four years,” said Mr. Ebeid.  “From day one, we focused on building an organization that can sustain change in the future and I’m proud to leave behind a team who will continue to drive the technology modernization agenda.  I know the next administration values the strategic role technology can play in government and wish them all the success.”

On January 11th, Mr. Ebeid will join Green Diamond Solutions as its President for Innovation and Technology.  Green Diamond Solutions is a fast growing company that is thriving at the intersection of analytics, sustainability, technology, and social good.

“We’re excited to see Adel join the private sector and honored by him choosing Green Diamond,” said Todd Fein, CEO of Green Diamond Solutions.  “For years, we have watched Adel affect meaningful change in the public sector.  Our mission is imperative, our business is accelerating, and someone like Adel will undoubtedly take us to the next level helping clients achieve greater success and sustain it.”
